The Disciple Simon/Peter

Simon/Peter was born sometime around the year 5 AD. He was part of Christ’s inner circle of disciples and one of the first patrons of the early Christian Church.

Simon/Peter was born in Bethsaida, a fishing town on the northeastern shore of the Sea of Galilee. It is believed that he was raised in Capernaum, a larger city close to the Sea of Galilee. Simon/Peter was originally a fisherman by trade. He left his fishing business to become one of Jesus’s disciples and missionary for Christianity.

Simon/Peter the Disciple was an influential figure in Christianity and an apostle of Jesus himself. Born a humble fisherman, he answered the call to follow Jesus, and his courage and strength of faith earned him the moniker “rock of Christianity”. Although he encountered hardships, such as imprisonment and ultimately martyrdom, his legacy lives on. His unwavering commitment to his faith serves as a reminder to us all of the power of faith, no matter what our circumstances may be. Simon/Peter is one of the most beloved and well-known of Jesus’ disciples, and his life story continues to inspire people today.

It is believed that Simon/Peter was martyred during the persecution of Christians in Rome during the reign of Nero, sometime between the years 64-67 AD. He was reportedly crucified upside down, as he felt unworthy to die in the same manner as Jesus.
