The Disciple Phillip

Philip was one of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus Christ. There is no exact date available for the birth of the disciple Philip, but it is believed that he was born in the first century AD.

He was born in Bethsaida a fishing village on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, and was called by Jesus while he was fishing with his brother, Andrew.

Philip is known for his simple, honest, and straightforward approach when he invited Nathanael to meet Jesus, declaring “We have found the Messiah”, and for his role as an intermediary in the feeding of the five thousand miracle.

After the death and resurrection of Jesus, he preached the gospel in Asia Minor and was martyred in Hierapolis.

According to historical accounts and traditions, Philip the Apostle is believed to have been martyred in the city of Hierapolis in Asia Minor (present-day Turkey) around AD 80. He was reportedly crucified upside down or impaled with a spear. However, the exact details of his death are not known for certain.
